Candle Care
DSS wants you to have an amazing home fragrance experience. Your candle is pre-trimmed to 1/4" for optimal candle performance on the first burn. We highly recommend you keep the wick trimmed to 1/4" before every burn to ensure Safe and Optimal flame height, strength, and overall burn time.
Here are more tips for High-Performing candles:
- Trim your wick to 1/4" before each lighting or once your candle has cooled.
- Do not attempt to trim a burning candle.
- Discard the snipped portion. Trimmings left in the vessel are a safety hazard (and they're unsightly!).
- The wick should always remain centered to prevent any one side of the vessel; overheating can cause cracking.
- Commit to burning the candle for around 4 hours each time you burn.
- Allow the wax to melt to the edges of the jar during each burn to prevent tunneling.
Safety First!
You are working with an open flame. Consider this when burning candles:
- Never leave a candle burning unattended, near a draft, or in reach of children or pets.
- Do not burn your candle when only 1/4" of wax remains.
- Do not pick up a burning candle; check that the candle vessel is cool before moving the candle.
- Always protect the surface underneath the candle vessel using a flat surface that is fire-resistant.
Once the candle's gone, please feel free to reuse the vessel for your home or office decor.
